Factory locations / model employer
Morley always sought to make the interest of his work-people identical with his own. He paid the “top price" for labour, and on all articles was invariably the first to give an advance and the last to take it off.
As the business grew rapidly into the largest of its kind in the world he became very wealthy, and a model employer. The prosperity of the business, which had been continuous up to the time when Samuel Morley became sole head of the firm in 1860, grew to be more prosperous than ever, and was responsible for 6% of the industry's output.
