I & R Morley was established by brothers John and Richard Morley from Sneinton who founded the family business in 1795. Hosiery was still primarily a cottage industry at the time and the business was based on selling textile work produced by home workers in the Nottingham area. I & R Morley were essentially wholesalers, buying in goods and storing them in warehouses in Nottingham and in the City of London.
