Samuel Morley, statue was erected in 1888, outside the Theatre Royal Nottingham to commemorate his death and generous giving tot he city of Nottingham (including the Theatre Royal). It was planned to be moved to the Arboretum in 1926 after being deemed a hindrance to traffic. Unfortunately whilst being transported to its new home it fell from the truck and broke into pieces.
