The wife of one of Morley's pensioners, Vincent Saxton, stated "When my mester cum hom' and said as how we'd got a pension of six shillings I could have jump'd out of my skin. To think as how we were gentle-folks for life. We neither of us had a wink o' sleep that night." They lived in a very small house near Cross Lane, Nottingham.
